FARM CAMP 2023

CANCELLATION UPDATE

We are currently working on refunding all Farm Camp Tuition for the 2023 Farm Camp Program. Thank you for your patience while we work through this. We appreciate the outpouring of support for the Farm Camp program. Refunds are expected to take up to 120 days. We do have to recover funds invested into the program. Thank you again for your patience as we work diligently to process everyone's refund.

Who is ready for some SUMMER FUN???

Highlander Farm is offering 8 weeks of FARM CAMP this summer!

 

Join us for an unforgettable week full of fun activities, crafts and discovery - Interact with various animals, learn about permaculture, composting, the eco-system, hatch baby chicks, feed baby goats, discover worm farming, and end the week with a super fun outdoor waterslide party.

What will camper experience during their week at Highlander Farm?

* Hands on approach to caring for animals

* Learn the basics to permaculture and methods used on the farm

* Create and repurpose recyclable items.

* How to Compost and create nutrient rich soil for planting

Who is this camp for?

All children Ages: 6-12 who love the outdoors and love animals. No farm experience is required. If your child loves the outdoors and animals, they will be a perfect fit.

Cost: $189/week *

After April 1st - $199/week*

*Cost includes camp t-shirt, craft supplies, a daily snack, and journal.

8 weeks available - 

Week 1 - June 5-8 (Monday - Thursday) $189/WEEK 

Week 2 - June 12-15 (Monday - Thursday) $189/WEEK 

Week 3 - June 19-22 (Monday - Thursday) $189/WEEK 

Week 4 - June 26-29 (Monday - Thursday)  $189/WEEK 

Week 5 - Holiday Week - July 3-6 (Monday - Thursday)  $189/WEEK 

Week 6 - July 10-13 (Monday - Thursday)  $189/WEEK 

Week 7 - July 17-20 (Monday - Thursday)  $189/WEEK 

Week 8 - July 24-27 (Monday - Thursday)  $189/WEEK 

 

 

 

Camp Schedule:

8:30 a.m. - Drop off 

8:30-9:15 a.m. -Play/Craft, Morning Meeting, Group Game

9:15-10:30 a.m. - Animal Focus: Chickens, Ducks, Rabbits, Goats

10:30-11:00 a.m. - Journal/Observation Time

11:00-11:45 a.m. - Lunch

11:45-12:30 p.m. - Craft

12:30-1:15 p.m. - Additional Focus: Garden, Soil, Worms, Compost, Greenhouse

1:15-2:00 p.m. - Scavenger Hunt, plant study, worm farm, game

2:00-3:00 p.m. - Helping with Chores. Collect eggs, feed goats, feed rabbits, pick vegetables

3:00-3:30 p.m. - Play/craft/journal

3:30 p.m. - Pick up

Drop off: 8:30 a.m., Pick up 3:30 p.m.*

Pick up and Drop off will be located in front of Highlander Farm under the big tent.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

What to bring to camp:

Shoes: comfortable closed toed shoes. NO SANDELS, NO CROCS, NO FLIP FLOPS - Campers will be sent home. Rubber rain boots that can be hosed off are best as the campers will be in and out of animal pens.

Clothing: comfortable, athletic clothing that can get messy every day.

Towel: to be used on Thursday after the waterslide party

Sunscreen

Sack Lunch

Water Bottle

Electronics/Cell Phones: ARE NOT ALLOWED at camp. 

Please label all of your child's belongings

Camp Groups:

Camp Groups will be assigned on the first day of camp.

Camp groups will be 25:1 Campers to Counselors. Each group will have 2 Jr. Camp Counselors to assist

Attendance:

There are no discounted rates if the camper does not attend 4 days a week.

If you know your child will be absent, please email highlanderfarmstl@gmail.com so we can let the counselor know.

Week Transfers:

Requests to transfer from one week to another will be charged a $25 fee. Transfers to another week are based on availability. Transfers can only be done within the 2023 Farm Camp Year. 

Cancellations & Refunds:

No refunds after April 1st, 2023. 

Cancellations before April 1, 2023 receive a full refund.

There are no refunds for early release or late start due to weather. 

Pick up:

Pick-up is at 3:30pm at the front (where drop off is) under the big tent. Please pull all the way around the circle to prevent cares from backing up on Mexico Road. We will load cars 4 at a time. Campers will be lined up and waiting for pick up so it should be quick.

Drop Off:

Drop off is 8:30 a.m. All kids are to go to the big tent and have a seat. Children are not allowed to wander the property without a counselor or before Camp begins. 

We allow a 15 minute grace period for early drop off in the morning and late pick up in the evening.  Late pick ups will be billed $25.

Camp Rules:

Highlander Farm promotes, encourages and teaches the 3 R's (Respect, Responsibility, & Resourcefulness). Campers are expected to respect themselves, their fellow campers, their counselors, the animals and the property. Through daily camp activities, we are teaching responsibility to the campers, which in turn builds confidence. We encourage campers to think outside the box on how they can apply their new skills in permaculture at home, and further explore ideas on sustainable living. (resourcefulness).

 

We will not tolerate verbal abuse, foul language, racist remarks, mistreatment of animals, bullying other campers. 1st time offenders will be sent home with a warning. Second time offenders will be expelled from camp. There are no refunds for expulsion.

 

Fighting is an automatic expulsion.

Bathrooms:

Portable Restrooms will be available to campers on-site along with hand washing stations.

Face Mask Policy:

Camp is 100% outdoors.

We do not require campers to wear face masks during camp.
